This is made from a very old quilt piece.
There may be signs of age and wear.
There are pink basting stitches that I have left in place. They may be removed without damage to the jacket. I have left them in place for authenticity.

Cut from antique linen grain sacks, this piece carries the texture and character of its past use. The interior and pockets are fully lined in antique blue and white ticking, adding durability and a quiet, considered contrast.

Because this was created from a very old antique quilt, you will find areas of fading, discoloring, and wear. This is part of its authenticity and charm.

This piece is one of the most intricately quilted pieces I have ever found.
The tiny hand stitching measures about 10 spi
Each floral piece has been expertly appliqued to the crisp, white background.
This quilt is an amazing display piece in excellent condition.
A few minor flaws- a small blue spit on one outer border edge, a small spot near a flower, and a thinning piece- see photos.
Some minor areas of discolouration can be found throughout.
The quilt has been hand-washed several times.

Keep out of direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this can result in sun fading and damage to the material.
You may handwash this quilt in cold water and lay flat to dry. Wring out excess water, do not twist. If it is a display piece only, some time outdoors on a line or laid in the sun (and even snow) will be sufficient to freshen it up.
This quilt is an authentic vintage, handmade Lone Star quilt.
It is made of 100% cotton. The composition of this quilts is mostly feed sack (as seen in the star diamonds), but also includes old shirting (the blue outer parts) and what I believe to be old sheeting.
This quilt was created from remnants of everyday textiles.
Each part of this quilt was a part of everyday life- worn to such softness!
If you ever slept somewhere where the sheets were inexplicably soft (Grandma’s house), this has that feel!
The quilt has been washed in perfume-free and dye-free detergent and dried in the fresh country air (and smells like it too)!

I suggest hand washing or washing this quilt on a delicate cycle.
Do not machine dry.
If hand washing, squeeze, do not wring out excess water and lay flat to dry.
Once it is mostly dry, line drying will be fine. From the machine, it can go directly to the line.
Storing or displaying it folded? Refold in a different direction from time to time to prevent damage to the fabric.
Direct sunlight is great to freshen it up, but prolonged exposure to the sun will result in sun fading and possible fabric damamge.
This piece is handmade, so it is one-of-a-kind. It is sure to be the quilt everyone fights over in your house (because it’s so soft)!

However, you can still see “ghost signs” in some places in Pennsylvania (where the sack was found).
